In
the 1980's an interesting and attractive addition to the Decanter
family was made with the white porcelain Royal Wedding Decanter,
to commemorate the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana in
1981. This limited edition Decanter was so popular that all stock
was sold within months, with a large proportion going overseas.
Since then, Bell's have continued the tradition of commemorating
special occasions in the lives of our Royal Family, with "limited
edition" Decanters. These Royal Decanters, in their striking
white colouring, are prestigious additions to the range and are
in keeping with the quality and tradition of their predecessors.
Bell's
also produced a new Bell's Royal Decanter to commemorate the Golden
Wedding Anniversary of The Queen and The Duke Of Edinburgh on
the 20 November 1997. Once again this was produced in white with
a royal blue shoulder, hand finished with 24 carat gold. This
new Royal Decanter depicted the young couple formally dressed
in royal regalia in 1947 on the one side, and on the other dressed
informally, and looking much more relaxed 50 years later in 1997.
This was the first Royal Decanter to contain Bell's 8 Year Old
Scotch Whisky and was in a royal blue presentation box repeating
the photographs on the Decanter inside.
Up until The
Queen's Golden Wedding Anniversary Decanter, which is in the new
70cl size in line with changed EEC legislation, all the Royal
Decanters, except Prince William and Prince Henry Decanters which
were both 50cl, were produced in the 75cl size.
To date the
